Located at Rubyvale in the Central Highlands region, the one-bedroom cottage was originally built in the 1950s, and has since been fully renovated.

There is also verandas all around, and an adjoining, fully-tiled work shed, ideal for cutting gems located on the 1000 sqm block, 900 sqm of which is the Sapphire Mining Claim and included in the price.

According to the listing, “the wash” is close to the surface and easily accessed.

“To date the largest stone found on the claim weighed in at a whopping 26 carats. It is blue green and is expected to yield an oval cut stone of around 16 carats,” the listing said.

Located 61 km west of Emerald and 11 km from the Rubyvale Post Office, the cottage is located in Queensland’s Sapphire Gemfields region.

The region takes in the towns of Anakie, Rubyvale, Sapphire and Willows, with the area popular with hopeful fossickers.

Mining claim authorities are managed by the Queensland Government.

Also listed for sale in the Gemfields is two adjoining mining claims with working shafts and equipment, both with caravans, for $58,000.

Another mining claim at Rubyvale, which comes with a two-bedroom dwelling, is listed for $85,000 negotiable.
