The stylish Bondi Beach home of former model and businesswoman Tali Jatali has sold for a whopping price and the buyer is her very fashionable neighbour in trendy Gould Street, Tuchuzy.
Ray White Double Bay’s Warren Ginsberg said the three-bedroom residence at 8 O’Brien Street sold for “more than $4m” but refused to be drawn on the identity of the purchaser.
Yet representatives for the long-running cult designer womenswear firm, which is located close by Jatali’s own swimwear design boutique, Jatali, in Gould Street, are known to have been in the auction room when it passed in at $3.7m last week.
And well-placed sources say Tuchuzy yesterday snapped up Jatali’s home, which had a $3.2m guide ahead of the auction, for $4.05m in the post-auction negotiations.
It’s understood they intend on using Jatali’s residence as their offices.
Reports show Tuchuzy went into voluntary administration in last June in the wake of the bushfires and coronavirus but last month came news that the original owners had “regained control”.
And company records show that Daria Sakic, who founded Tuchuzy in 1995, retains 65 per cent ownership alongside two minor shareholders.
Sakic, who remains the company’s director, reportedly said last month: “There have been a lot of sleepless nights … without the support of our customers, team and suppliers, today could have been a very different type of announcement.”
The firm, which also has a popular online warehouse, is known for their stock of luxury and emerging international and Australian brands.
The Wentworth Courier has contacted the store’s staff seeking comment from Sakic.
Jatali is a popular Bondi identity, who was born in Israel but moved to Australia at the age of 16.
She was soon after strutting the runways of Milan and New York in a 15-year career.
Jatali bought the O’Brien Street pad for $1,956,000 in 2016 and has made a few cosmetic changes.
There are marble finishes in the kitchen, gas appliances and floor-to-ceiling cupboards.
An open-plan living area opens through full-width bifolds to an entertainment deck.
Jatali’s now on the hunt for a larger home, possibly an apartment, in the area for herself and 18-year-old daughter, Zsa Zsa.
