SEEKING the ultimate tree change?
A fruit farm at Daintree might appeal – there’s a passionfruit farm and a mangosteen farm on the market.
The mangosteen farm is over the river at 59 Ironbark Road, Diwan, on 1.07ha with an elevated two-bedroom home offering spectacular rainforest views with a deck facing Thornton’s Peak.
Agent Kent Jansen, of Tony McGrath Real Estate Port Douglas, said the elegant home was supported by a 5.5Kva solar system with battery storage and a generator for backup, and the property had mobile phone and satellite NBN broadband communications.
The farm has more than 200 established mangosteen trees grown on trellis systems for ease of picking.
“The mangosteen is the queen of the exotic fruits and has great potential for commercial income,” he said.
“The home and farm are supported with a bore and storage of 50,000 litres in five tanks and … enough cleared land for future growth.”
He said it would be ideal for semi-retirees or couples who could work from home and run the farm.
The second property is a mortgagee auction of a 55.6ha former passionfruit farm on sought-after land at Stewarts Creek, south of Daintree River and about 10 minutes from Daintree Village.
Mr Jansen said an enthusiastic operator could restart the business and there was a 180sq m processing shed, cool room, abundant water with current licences, and overhead trellising in place to replant vines.
A key feature of the property is an elevated and expansive house pad with room for a future pool, and an existing one-bedroom shed dwelling.
“There is plenty of scope throughout the year while the vines and fruit are growing to enjoy holidays and trips away,” he said. “It is an absolutely gorgeous location, it’s like entering the Jurassic world.
“It ran as a successful passionfruit farm but the owners retired and provided vendor finance to an incoming Sydney-based buyer who operated it and abandoned it. The buyer has defaulted and it must be put to auction on the open market. It offers absolute privacy, it is a bolthole away from the city.
“Both properties offer an idyllic lifestyle retreat option for anyone seeking to get out of the city.”
The properties will be auctioned at 11am on March 28 at the Sea Temple Resort at Port Douglas.
