Bryce Gibbs and Brayden Maynard AFL-linked homes score solid results

The 10 Beenak Ave, Brighton East, childhood home of Brayden Maynard sold for $2.43m at auction.

The childhood home of Magpies defender Brayden Maynard scored a hefty return as buyers went on the attack for the 10 Beenak Avenue, Brighton East, home.

Nick Johnstone Real Estate director Nick Johnstone said Maynard’s parents, Donna and Peter, had been happy with the $2.43m sale — but had mixed emotions about downsizing.

“It’s where their three children all grew up,” Mr Johnstone said.

Three bidders drove the auction from a $2m opening offer and past $2.4m when it was called on the market.

A family with university-aged children won the keys to the four-bedroom home with a pool.

Mr Johnstone said it was a “pretty good” result.

The home’s new owners are not expecting their kids to tackle a spot in the AFL.

Maynard grew up kicking the footy in the street out the front as well as at on the oval of nearby Brighton Secondary College.

A pool with a water feature, outdoor entertaining zone and multiple living zones featured throughout the home.

Meanwhile, retired footballer Bryce Gibbs’ Princes Hill home never even made it to the first bounce.

The terrace home at 101 Wilson Street has plenty of period charm at the front.

The former Blues and Crows player scored a slick early disposal after an expat trumped three other potential buyers with a pre-auction bid that ended the sales campaign at 4pm on Friday afternoon.

Gibbs had the 101 Wilson Street home listed with a $2.5-$2.7m price guide and topped that with an undisclosed figure that was “a bit more than a good result”, according to Walshe and Whitelock director Peter Sowersby.

“The property is an amazing home and we’d expected a good result, but this was a bit more than a good result,” Mr Sowersby said.

It is decidedly more modern at the rear.
