Celebrity chef Shannon Bennett and former partner, actor Madeleine West, have made an at least $7m windfall after selling their luxurious Toorak mansion for more than $23m.
The five-bedroom, four-level house with a pool at 43 Lansell Road is off the menu after attracting interest from 15 groups with budgets over $20m.
Industry sources indicate the home sold well over its $21-$23m price guide.
On one of the well-heeled suburb’s most vaunted streets, it sold in less than two weeks.
Bennett, famed for his role as Rialto-top restaurant Vue de monde head chef and regular TV appearances on shows like MasterChef, and West, who has starred in films and TV shows including The Wrong Girl and Neighbours, split about a year after buying the house in 2017.
With a $16m purchase price, a renovation between sales overseen by the pair helped add at least $7m to the home’s value.
Marshall White’s Marcus Chiminello brokered the deal for the home, which was previously owned by publican millionaire Mazen Tabet.
Mr Chiminello previously told the Herald Sun the home had been inspected by 25 groups in the space of a week, and received almost 20,000 views on realestate.com.au — about 15 times what a typical Toorak home receives.
“It’s predominantly been very local family home buyers coming from a few kilometres away, … who don’t want to go through the effort of building or renovating,” Mr Chiminello said.
He dubbed the home’s new minimalist design “one of the best I’ve ever set foot in” and helped win over the time-poor rich listers with the budget for it.
The house features a 10-car garage, home theatre, gym, library, kitchen updated with Miele appliances by brand ambassador Bennett, and a rooftop garden with a second kitchen.
Bennett and West made close to $5m selling their former Cromwell Road, South Yarra, home for close to $10m in 2017, and sold a slick designer pad in Big Hill at Lorne in 2018.
The pair have six children together.
